The city of Barcelona features different beaches at close distance that allow you to take a quick dip or have a drink at sunset close to the sea without having to drive long distances. The city’s opening to the sea is the feature the people from Barcelona value and enjoy the most.

Among the most popular beaches of the city we find Barceloneta beach, located between the Espigón del Gas and Sant Miquel beach. This 422-metre long beach is one of the oldest and most pleasant beaches in the city due to the lively atmosphere of its seaside promenade and the Barcelona views it offers to its visitors. Besides, it is one of the most frequented beaches by tourists and young people.

Sant Miquel beach is also one of the oldest beaches in Barcelona. It is located between Sant Sebastià and Barceloneta beaches and it is 420 metres long. Furthermore, it is a central beach located close to the emblematic Gothic neighbourhood, which also makes it one of the most visited beaches of the city.

Close to this beach we find Sant Sebastià beach, located in the district of Ciutat Vella, close to Barcelona’s harbour. It is the longest beach in the city and its hallmark is that it can be accessed on foot from the city centre, which makes it one of the preferred beaches by tourists and local people.

Somorrostro beach lies in an area formerly part of Barceloneta beach and it is named after an old village which was in precarious conditions. It is 522 metre long and its closeness to the city makes it another one of the preferred beaches by youngsters and tourists.

Nova Icària beach is probably one of the most quiet beaches in Barcelona. It is 415 metre long and it lies in the centre of the coast of Barcelona. It features a sports area with tennis tables, two volleyball courts and a games area. At sunset, the beach bars light torches so that visitors can enjoy sunset while having a drink on the deck chairs.

Another one of the most quiet beaches of Barcelona is Bogatell beach, a bit further from the city centre. It also features a sports area with ping pong table, football and volleyball courts. This 702-metre long beach can be accessed through Rambla de Poble Nou and the bars of the area also light torches that create a unique atmosphere by the sea.

In order to enjoy all the beaches of Barcelona we recommend you to stay in one of the Petit Palace Hotels in Barcelona, which have good communications with all these beaches and with the main tourist attractions in Barcelona, like Cataluña square.
