Stopping stress and deciding to forget the routine that (generally) traps us from Monday to Friday is one of the unfinished things we have pending that for the sake of our good health both physical and mental, we should correct. Although many people try to find the best way to disconnect without leaving the city, the truth is that it is better to take a few days off and visit places where you can relax, switch off and forget everything.
Why don’t you treat yourself to a lightening break from which you will return a new person? If your answer is “yes” we recommend that you spend these last days of March at a Petit Palace urban hotel in Madrid, leaving a space in your diary for outdoor excursions to the mountain range near to Madrid.
Known as the Sierra Norte de Madrid (Madrid’s northern mountain range), this area js more than just a place to escape to for the Madrid inhabitants but it is also considered one of the most beautiful places of the Community. With 42 municipalities in the Sierra Norte and its natural and cultural wealth, you should not miss this excursion which we recommend and where you will enjoy seeing the local houses made of stone and wood, the renovated barns and even snow, (in the coldest months).
As it is almost impossible to discover all of the Sierra Norte in a weekend, our option is that you choose one of the municipalities that are nearest to the capital such as Rascafria. A beautiful place located at an altitude of more than 1,000 metres, with Madrid on one side and Seville on the other.
Bustarviejo is another of the places that is well connected with the capital and is well worth a visit. The Mondalino peak (almost 2,000 metres high) and the Sierra de la Cuesta de la Plata with panoramic views and impressive countryside are the two most important places to visit on this excursion.
We will now talk about another borough, smaller than those previously mentioned, our last stop takes us to Navalafuente, an area of outstanding countryside where you can relax after an intensive excursion in the Sierra Norte de Madrid. The streams and pastures of ash trees are two of the highlights of the area.
