This month one of the most important events for the people from Malaga is held in the city: the big fair of August in Malaga. Between the 15th and 23d of this month the Andalusian city is dressed for its big week, during which we can find a large amount of people who do not want to miss this event.
Although we can find activities anywhere in the city, the central areas of the festivity are the Central fair, located in the streets of Malaga old town, and the Cortijo de Torres fair ground. In both places activities are organised throughout the day, although the Central fair has more public during the day and the Cortijo ground at night.
Among all the activities of the event we highlight the wines and tapas tasting, organised in the different stands on the main streets of the city, like Larios street. A pleasure for all senses that no wine and Andalusian cuisine lover should miss. New visitors will have the opportunity to discover some of the most traditional dishes of the gastronomy of Malaga.
At night, people moves to the Cortijo de Torres, where the main attractions are the daily free concerts of renowned artists of the national and international panorama. Artists such as Malú, Pablo Alborán or Chambao have visited this stage in previous editions. Besides, in the Caseta de la Juventud we can find alternative music concerts that conclude with the Malaga Crea Rock.
But there are many other activities in the big fair of Malaga: sevillanas contests, horses and carriages parades, contests for the best stands, bullfights… You cannot miss the traditional verdiales festival, in the Central fair, in which you will be able to discover this typical dancing of the fair of August. And for those who want to discover the culture of Malaga, we recommend you visit some of the museums open throughout the week and the different exhibitions held in different areas of the city.
One of the most special events of the festivity is the opening of the fair and the announcement of the festivities, which are normally organised in the Malagueta beach. This year the humorist Manolo Sarria will make the official opening talk. Do not miss the flower offering to the patron saint and the pilgrimage.
During this week Malaga offers a warm welcome to visitors from all parts of the country. If you want to enjoy a pleasant experience in Malaga and discover its big fair of August we recommend you stay in the Petit Palace Plaza Malaga Hotel.
