When you put Barcelona and the summer season together you don’t need to add anything else. A capital that shines with its own light in these months when the climate is warm and just right for showing the visitor its truly genuine and resoundingly charming face. This is especially so in August.

Although the eighth month of the year (the hottest of all) means a substantial increase in tourists moving around the city streets, the fact is that August has wonderful things in its 31 days that are well worth experiencing. The most beautiful and original idea perhaps is the one called “Music in the Parks”, a festival in which live music and nature raise their voices in song.

A project that affects everyone

If you stay in Petit Palace Barcelona, Petit Palace Boquería Garden or Petit Palace Museum Hotel you are in luck since you will be very close to some of the venues that take part in this new event programme, which began in June and that will finish on the last day of August in the Parc del Clot.

Talking about “Music in the Parks” is to refer to a charming initiative involving the staging of more than sixty outdoor concerts. Live music performed by bands, new groups or songwriters that ensures that every summer afternoon in Barcelona has a different sound and a special essence. It is certainly one of those experiences that no one should miss.

Special places with background harmonies

Another objective of the “Music in the Parks” initiative is to offer the visitor an alternative way to get to know and visit the city’s parks. Thus, you can discover every corner Ciutadella  Park with classic sounds as your background, or visit the Parc de les Aigües del Guinardohile humming along to the songs of legendary old Hollywood films interpreted by a real symphony orchestra.

The Jardines de la Primavera and Can Brasó are also prominent locations in this cycle of music in Barcelona’s parks. Two green lungs of the city in which there is room for both pop music and again classical sounds.

The New Yorker Monica Green will have the role of closing this new programme with a concert that will take place in the Parc del Clot and which promises to be a masterpiece. The best of all is that access to the concerts in the parks is totally free.
