Between 28th January and 1st February takes place in Madrid at Ifema, the exhibition centre, the 35th edition of the Feria Internacional del Turismo, Fitur. For another year the Spanish capital will become the most important meeting point for travel professionals from all over the world.
Fitur is the most important event of the year for the tourism sector both nationally and internationally. This is demonstrated by the large number of visitors it receives every year, breaking participation records at every edition.
Last year, visitor numbers to this internationally famous event were almost 218.000 people, of which more than 120,000 were travel professionals and 97,000 were non-professionals. Moreover, the edition had a participation of over 9,000 exhibitors from 165 countries or regions.
These figures are a clear example of the importance that Fitur has within the international tourism sector. This fact is also endorsed by the large attendance last year of the international press, when a total of 7,368 journalists were accredited, coming from 60 countries.
For this year Fitur is expected to once again repeat the participation success and more importantly will continue to promote the latest touristic products of the sector. At this year’s edition for the first time there will be a new section: Fitur Shopping, dedicated to the segment of tourism who like shopping.
However, this is not all and Fitur will continue promoting and commercializing other products that have become stronger over the last few years such as medical or ecotourism amongst others.
Also worth a mention is the important participation of many different countries who will come to Fitur to offer their proposals, both as destinations for outbound and inbound.
Madrid, once again, will become the meeting place for professionals from all over the world and the general public, wanting to discover what the tourism sector has to offer for 2015.
If you are travelling to the capital to visit Fitur we recommend that you stay at one of the Petit Palace Hotels in Madrid. From their multiple locations you can easily travel to the exhibition centre or visit the principal attractions of the capital such as Plaza Mayor.
