In addition to being the beach month, July is celebrated all over Valencia with an endless number of concerts that give us the best modern music until well into the night. The reason? The concerts that shape the 2017 Gran Fira Valencia program, an event you cannot miss if you have decided to spend your next holiday at the Petit Palace Plaza de la Reina or our Petit Palace Ruzafa hotel.
The stage chosen for this great music festival (which began last July 30th and lasts until the next July 25th) are the Jardines de Viveros de Valencia, a perfect place surrounded by nature and space that invites you to disconnect. From here a total of 16 concerts will take place in which there are no shortage of national and international artists. Would you like to know more about the event?
An event that dates back to the 19th century
The Gran Fira of Valencia is a cultural event whose origins date back to the nineteenth century (specifically to the year 1871).
With the purpose of becoming the official summer festival, the municipal authorities believed that the event should be one hundred percent Valencian, hence the pyrotechnic shows and the latest music. What we also love? The fact that most of the activities and concerts are free.
Internationally renowned headliners
Although sports and gastronomic activities and pyrotechnic shows have a significant importance at the Gran Fira in Valencia, the real popularity of this event is its concert schedule. An agenda that begins to take shape at the beginning of the year and has two key principles: to offer attendees quality concerts with a variety of musical styles.
From electronics sessions to pop and authentic rock concerts, all this and much more is what the great cultural event in the capital of Turia offers.
With Love of Lesbian and Leiva as headliners in the first two weeks of the Fira, the event will continue with performances by bands such as UB40, Chick Corea & Bela Fleck or the amazing pop singer / pianist Jamie Cullum.
A unique battle in the world
The culmination of this summer event is the so-called “battle of flowers of Valencia “. A unique fight (with more than a hundred years of history) that consists of several floats who are armed with flower petals. The result? A historic town bathed by a beautiful, colourful blanket of flowers.
