Beyond the high level musical offer available at festivals of the quality of Primavera Sound, BBK Live or Arenal Sound, our country has other possibilities of relevant music promoting work produced by emerging bands. An event which is called Monkey Week and now after several very successful editions in Puerto de Santa Maria Cadiz, it will take place in Seville.
Maintaining the concept and the philosophy, the festival arrives in Seville with a much more open and innovative vision. The objective? Give voice and space in the principal concert halls in the capital of Andalusia to more than fifty emerging bands, expressly invited by the organization.
Taking as the base of operations the mythical and central zone of Alameda de Hercules (a very short distance from our hotels Petit Palace Canalejas Seville, Petit Palace Marques Santa Ana and Petit Palace Santa Cruz) and with the title “Discover today the bands of tomorrow”, the first edition in Seville of Monkey Week has a line up with such well known names as Cápsula, Beach Beach or Los Nastys.
This meeting with the most actual music, which will take place between 13th and 15th October, will also be a meeting point for artists, press and the public in general. Apart from the concerts already programmed there will also be lectures, forums and fairs projected by the organization of the festival.
You are in Seville and would like to enjoy some of the highlights of the festival? Take note because we will indicate some of the most relevant places.
This was the main X cinema in Seville and is today one of the main references for concerts. A spacious and diaphanous hall with a little more than three years of life which is located a few metres from the Alameda de Hercules.
Without a doubt the hall with most history in the Andalusian capital. Veterans in concerts and although the club’s golden years are in the past, the Fun Club can be proud of the fact that they have organized concerts of such bands as Los Planetas, Maga and many other popular bands.
Although it is nearer to the Avenida de Torneo (next to the Guadalquivir) than the Alameda de Hercules, the Sala Malandar is another of the places chosen for the Monkey Week festival. A place where you can enjoy various concerts and diverse workshops and forums.
